I've always been extremely happy with the loving treatment my father receives at South Haven. Living in Seattle, I'm on ly able to come back to Nebraska four to six times a year, so it's reassuring knowing he's in such caring hands. But now, thanks to Justin in activities, I have the opportunity to see my father every Wednesday morning via Skype, where we sit face-to-face and have a visit on our computers. They wheel the computer at South Haven right over to him, dial me up, and there we are, seeing and talking to one another.
My father suffers from Parkinson's, which has affected his speech, making our phone conversations quite difficult. With Skype I actually see him on my computer, in real time, which greatly helps me in deciphering what he's saying. Of course with Skype, I can't hold his hand or lean over and give him a big hug, but it's the next best thing to being there in person b ecause I can see how he is doing. I know he gets a kick out of our weekly "dates," marvels at the technology, and I hope it gives him something to look forward to.
South Haven has really stepped up their game with this service. South Haven has shown dedication to enriching the lives of not only their residents, but the need for family members living away to have contact, and the importance that holds for each resident. I am so grateful to Justin, who stepped in, figured it out and got us hooked up! And now Dad is in my calendar for every Wednesday morning, that time slot is invaluably spoken for.
To the Direct Care Staff at South Haven:
Your knowing of personal preferrences and routines so you can anticipate needs and give personal care without being asked means SO much to our Family of Residents! Thanks for caring about each and every one of them!

To all you guys who did so much for my mother in law and worked so hard to help her...a BIG THANK YOU! We appreciate all the effort you put forth. She is doing much better now and we wish you could see how much! Thanks again.
To all our dear friends in Lakemont,
Words can hardly express the thanks and appreciation we feel towards all of you. My husband would not be where he is today had it not been for all the care, help and loving concern all of you have shown. And not only for the medical help but for a true friendship you have shown to both of us. This has truly been a home away from home. Your kindness and concern will never be forgotten. God Bless all of you with love.
