Jack Vetter Receives First-Ever
"Friend of the AHCA Quality Program" Award
Washington, D.C. - Jack Vetter,
President of Vetter Health Services, received the first "Friend of
the AHCA Quality Program" award at the 52nd Annual AHCA/NCAL
convention in Boston, MA. The new award was created to honor the
unique contribution of an individual who furthers the success of the
Quality Award Program. This national awards program recognizes
quality nursing facilities and assisted living residences and is a
premier event at the annual convention.
Jack Vetter was chosen to win this new
award due to his tireless work with the quality program. It is in
part due to his unwavering dedication and loyalty to the program
that has helped it flourish. During the past four years, Jack has
demonstrated his commitment to AHCA's Quality Award and has been a
vocal supporter of the award and for quality care in nursing
facilities. He has given countless hours to the program working with
and training judges. And this year, Jack showed his support by
hosting the first-ever multi-day training program to train new
judges for the program, which greatly improved the training process
and cohesion of the judges. "The degree to which the judges were
able to conduct thorough evaluations of the applications is largely
due to Jack's commitment and generosity," said Dale Thompson,
Executive Vice President of Business Development and Advocacy at
Benedictine Health System, as he presented Jack with the award.
AHCA's Quality Award is modeled after
the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award, which is the nation's
premier recognition for quality achievement. AHCA's award is
designed to support continuous quality improvement efforts in the
long-term care profession by promoting quality awareness and
education, and to recognize outstanding achievements.
Jack began his career as the administrator of a 55-bed nursing home
in 1966 and started Vetter Health Services in 1975. He is the
president of Vetter Health Services in Omaha, Nebraska, which owns
and manages 31 facilities in the Midwest. Jack has been elected to
the board of the Nebraska Health Care Association for more than 13
years and was president of the association for six years ending in
1991. Jack is also a member of the American College of Nursing Home
Administrators.
Vetter Health Services is known for
operations guided by quality and values. Their quest for quality
goes far beyond the minimum standards required by state and federal
regulations. The goal is to provide the best health care possible
for the residents at each facility they own and manage. To meet
these future and ever-changing needs of our senior population,
Vetter Health Services is continuously developing and adopting
unique concepts such as "caring households for seniors," silent call
systems, new concepts in memory support centers, and the Eden
Alternative philosophy, as well as other innovative changes in this
growing industry.
The American Health Care Association
and the National Center for Assisted Living represent nearly 12,000
non-profit and for-profit nursing facilities, assisted living
residences, subacute centers and homes for people with mental
retardation or developmental disabilities. These facilities,
residences, centers and homes provide care to more than one million
elderly and disabled individuals nationally. Members of AHCA and
NCAL are long-term care providers who believe that the individuals
they serve are entitled to a supportive environment in which
professional and compassionate care is delivered in a safe and
secure setting.
